Arduino or RaspBerry or other?

I know this could be a stupid question, but you could figure out that I am very noob about both boards and I would wish get some advice.

I will tell you something about what i want to do. Thank you in advance for your time and your consideration.

I need make a tiny mechanism with two DC motors with variable velocity to move a small led-laser pointer. The light point must draw some lines on a wall.

Those lines will be drawn programming the variability of the velocity of mentioned motors.

Additional info: I do not need the movement be quick but I need it be accurate

As I said, I am just beginning with this activity. Please, you be kind with me if I'm writting stupid things

I have read elsewhere that Arduino is a little more optimized for tasks like this, but I think either will work fine.

The beam will need to move relatively quickly in order for the laser to draw lines visible to the naked eye. The process is called POV. Most commercial laser projectors employ galvanometers for this task. The low mass of a galvanometers head means it can change speed and direction rapidly.

    Ok, thankyou for answering...

I think that I made a very simple explanation.

The speed of the light point is very slow.

I do not need that the light point moves quick to draw visible lines.

Only need accurate controlling the position, so I need control with high precission the movement of to motors to get the point in the right place every time.

The two motors rotation speed will be managed by the board. No inputs, only a function that change speed of motors to keep the point moving

I can not say more because this is only a starting idea. This is the reason I was asking what board you think is better to make something like that

    Thanks again for your time.
