Laser Sensor for Arduino?

I thought of a fun project I want to take on, but I need some sort of laser sensor. Basically I need a visable laser that when i put my hand over, sends a signal to an arduino. Nothing to complicated and it has to be somewhat small cuz i will need multiple lasers setup about an inch apart from eachother.

Hi you can use a normal laser pointer (the one you may ba have seen during presentations) and then you can connect a photoresistor to Arduino as shown here http://playground.arduino.cc/Learning/PhotoResistor…

I think that you should try searching for "3D scanner arduino" on google to get inspiration on how the laser is controlled and how the target is pointed (this is an example: http://makezine.com/projects/diy-3d-laser-scanner-using-arduino/) Your idea is for measuring a single point so it can be achieved with many simplifications and few coding.
