Hello Moshin, Arduino is a good platform to start and you have a lot of possibilities to evolve an home automation project based on this board but your request sounds a bit too generic. Maybe the case you focus to something more specific so we can help you in a better way.
I think that a good source of inspiration maybe Casa Jasmina on the same Arduino site.

Hello Mohsin,
Home automation is vast field. Arduino is a great prototyping platform. Even I agree with balearicdynamics, the question is too generic.
My friends and I had developed a project on home automation using Arduino and ESP8266 WiFi Module using the MQTT Protocol, and we operated 4 appliances via a mobile application. Check the above mentioned terms and contact me if you need more details. I'd be happy to help.
Also, if you want to switch platform to Raspberry Pi, there are also many projects available for the same.

Would you like to start with environmental controls, lighting controls, home security, appliance controls, entertainment or automation of chores. All of these areas can improve your life, save you time, save you effort or make life more enjoyable. It will take time to tackle them all, but if you are a beginner, you should start with an area that won't cause major problems for you if your automation system has problems. For example, controlling anything that runs off mains power can be dangerous for a beginner, but if you make a wireless alarm that indicates when someone is approaching your home, it has less chance of hurting something if it doesn't work.
I am recording a series on Home / Industrial Automation and will be posting videos here and other outlets, it will include Arduinos, LaunchPads, Raspberry PIs, LCD Displays including smart displays, Sensing and outputs like Temperature, Humidity, pressure, switches, Power, Relays, Mains, Other Sensing and many other interfaces, hopefully this may help you out too
