What does Unvarnished Transmission Mode Mean?

rishi2628
rishi2628 over 9 years ago

I am using an ESP8266 Wifi Module and I have come across a command "AT+CIPMODE=X" which basically sets the mode of the wifi to normal mode if X=0 and Unvarnished Transmission mode when X = 1. I have googled the term and cannot come up with what it means. Please tell me what this term means and what is the difference between the two modes. For some reference:-

    Hi Rishi,

It is a language translation error, they meant 'transparent', not 'unvarnished'. I don't know in what context they mean 'transparent', but you could directly ask the author, since it is placed at GitHub. In other words just request them to correct the word from unvarnished to transparent and also to clarify its meaning. Then it will help everyone You can click on the issues tab in GitHub and then select 'New Issue'. Once you know the answer, please do place it here to help others too.
