digispark

tomstr21

Hello ... my question is about digispark (I think that it's close enought to arduino )

I have trouble installing drivers for digispark on my laptop (Win7 64bit) using this tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmDBvgrYGZs .

Everything works until I'm supposed to update driver of the "unknown device" --I'll do anything the tutorial says and the system goes like : "The correct driver has been installed already" (meaning "unknown" driver)

If you can help me I would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks

there are known problems after an update of the arduino environment.

Please have a look here: https://halfbyteblog.wordpress.com/2016/03/03/third-party-boards-wont-compile-in-arduino-ide-after-an-upgrade-read-on-to…

I found one work around for drivers that don't install, and it's from memory so bear with me.

    Insert the device.

In windows go to the device manager and click the unknown object.

Bring up the menu and and tell windows it is a serial device

When it asks you can point it at the supplied driver.

Basically windows always runs away to 'mummy' and tries to identify the object from the PID and VID.

Unless it is registered with windows, it will come back with unknown object and then fail to load properly.

Since it doesn't know anything about the device (from the PID/VID) then if you tell windows it is a serial device, then it is part way there.

Remember that the Digispark natively only communicates out the USB for 5 secs, then allows the program to control those pins.

    Windows takes longer than that.

    Mark.
