FastLed library help?

launchpad
launchpad over 5 years ago

I'm looking to start messing with rgb led's and do some projects for the house, I'm finding sk6812 leds and they are saying that they are similar to the ws2812 led's. Will it work the same with the FastLed library? Or is there a library that the SK's use? Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Grant,

I down loaded and examined the data sheet for the two different numbers WS2812 and SK6812. It would be a good idea for you to do this as well. I could see no functional difference between the two. Electrical parameters and layout as well as logic function appear to be the same. This would indicate that the library you refer to should work equally well on either one.

    Hi Grant,

In support of John, the FastLed site on Github says the SK6812 RGB LEDs will work.  Just specify WS2812 to the library.  The library apparently will not handle RGBW LEDs though (The ones with a white Channel added).  I did run into some variant years ago that had slightly different timing requirements but cannot remember which and apparently not the SK6812.
