TX RX 433 question

Former Member

Hi everyone!

I bought my first arduino a month ago, and have been having fun with it. However, last night I was trying to send signals from a TX433 to a RX433 on 2 different unos. First thing to note though is that the TX says it's 433.92MHZ while the RX just says 433 MHZ. I've been trying different configurations and different codes to get them to work but no avail (meaning the serial monitor doesn't show anything at all). Do you think it's because their frequencies are different? (I emailed the store I bought it from , and they insisted that they were compatible, despite that they were from 2 different suppliers). Otherwise, what am I missing? Here are some pics of how I've set them up, and I also posted the code I am trying right now (amongst the other ones I've tried).

Thanks so much guys!

TRANSMITTER:

/*
* Simple Transmitter Code
* This code simply counts up to 255
* over and over
* (TX out of Arduino is Digital Pin 1)
*/
byte counter;
void setup(){
//2400 baud for the 434 model
Serial.begin(1200);
counter = 0;
}
void loop(){
//send out to transmitter
Serial.print(counter);
counter++;
delay(10);
}

RECEIVER:

/*
* Simple Receiver Code
* (TX out of Arduino is Digital Pin 1)
* (RX into Arduino is Digital Pin 0)
*/
int incomingByte = 0;
void setup(){
//2400 baud for the 434 model
Serial.begin(1200);
}
void loop(){
// read in values, debug to computer
if (Serial.available() > 0) {
incomingByte = Serial.read();
Serial.println(incomingByte, DEC);
}
incomingByte = 0;
}

    You either have the wrong data sheet for the module or the wrong module.  The frequency and modulation skeems are not the same on data sheets.  Verify with the MFG the correct data sheets for the modules. If the modules are correct,  look here http://winavr.scienceprog.com/example-avr-projects/running-tx433-and-rx433-rf-modules-with-avr-microcontrollers.html and see if this helps out...

    Yeah I've tried that and a couple of other tutorials as well.. no avail though.. Are you sure they're not compatible? I'll send back the parts if you're sure image

    Contact the Vendor that you purchased from and verify with them.  You might want to directly connect the two Adruino's together and verify the code (tx to rx) and if they talk to each other, that directly points to the modules if you can get com operational through direct connection.  Once this is verified in a wired setup, try wireless again.  Can you send all of your code? Good luck...

    thanks for your respopnse guys! If I made a direct wired connection, it works just fine... But, I couldn't get it to work with the tx rx.. Regarding the code, that's all the code I have. I've also followed the tutorials online, but still couldnt get it to work. I'm not sure if it's clear in the pic i posted, but the tx says its 433.92 mhx, while the rx just says 433. I wonder if this is the reason they are not communicating. Someone pls shed some light. I want to return the items and get my $50 bucks worth.

    PS. (if the tx is 433.92 mhz, then wouldnt that be the same as a TX434?)

    This goes back to my first reply,  If the RX module matches the data sheet, then it is incorrect.  Yes they MUST match the freq exactly.  Same with Modulation schem.  Return one or both and purchase modules that match freq and modulation.

    So it looks like I'm the problem.. I ordered new parts TX/RX434 and still couldnt get them to work. This is the tutorial I'm trying to emulate. http://www.sparkfun.com/datasheets/RF/KLP_Walkthrough.pdf..  Has anyone here ever tried this and made it work? ugh.. would anyone be willing to skype to teach me or something?
