Wireless starter Kit

Former Member
Former Member over 14 years ago

Hi everyone.

I'm about to getting started with Arduino, looking for a kit to make something involving wireless sensors (XBEE Shields or whatever).

I hope to find something affordable, but I'm not sure whether pieces of hardware I found googling up are compatible or not with each others.

Could anyone give some links of kits fitting my requirements (not very expensive, aiming at working with Zigbee, and having all the stuff needed to get to work)?

Many thanks in advance image

    Hi,

finally I bought some pieces on different places: cooking-hacks, sparkfun and seeed studio. Thanks again for the advices.

I got recently the arduino uno, and I'm playing with it a little bit. After installing and testing the board successfully (running the blink led example), I got this messages on the dmesg terminal command (Linux Ubuntu 10.10):

Is it abnormal? I'm a bit worried... image

    Hi Oscar,

Glad to see you're running Linux - I am, too image.  I would think this probably not related to the Arduino.  I see that that this log message has been discussed on the Ubuntu StackExchange Q&A site.  The top answer links to these instructions:

BTW, if you're able, you might want to upgrade.  I upgraded from Ubuntu 10.10 to 11.04 earlier this year with no problems (on a Thinkpad T410s).

    Cheers,

    Drew

    Fixed. Thanks, Drew. image

Regarding the OS upgrade, I made it a few months ago but then I found some annoying desktop changes, and a few issues with some libraries when developing a Django project, and I decided to downgrade again.

I guess I'll try ubuntu 11.10 sooner than later, but everything is running smoothly with the Arduino board by now.

    Cheers,

    Óscar

Great. Yeah, one thing I didn't like was desktop changes.  Quickly switched to gnome classic, aka gnome 2.  I think this option gone in 11.10.
