I need to develop a long range (5 kilometers) communication system with two arduinos. I've used Digi Xbee Pro 2.5 modules but communication is not good enough. I would like to know what another posibilities I have.

knowing nothing at all about your project, does it have to be continual data, or on demand?
if it`s the latter, you could consider using a GSM module such as the Siemens TC35.
then distance is no object at all
