i just bought a dashboard panel , i was planning to do all the motion of the needles with servos

But now im wondering if i can control the built in mechanisms - as far as i know aircores (it will be cheaper+ the servo inly goes 180 degrees and i need a bit more so i have to make some extra gears for it)
but im not familiar with the the work principle of an air core so i dont realy know how to control it.
i cant seem to find enough info on the web so im wondering if any of you are familiar with dashboard instruments
