Help me, I'm a Nube.

Hi All,

 

I am new to the Arduino.  I want to control 3 processes all from an SD card attched to the Arduino.

 

  • Turn the output source on and off
  • Sync this "on and off" with trigger points in audio soundtrack that also plays from SD card and sends to onboard speakers
  • Spray a mist every few minutes
  • Change the card which will have new sound trigger points and audio

 

Please help with this list . . .

  1. How do I add an SD port onto the Arduino
  2. How do I program the SD card
  3. How do I get the Arduino to read the different SD cards properly

 

And lastly, is it even possible?

    Hi benjamin,

     

    you can easily add SD card support to Arduino.

     

    Using SPI bus, you can connect SD Card to connector. There are various SD/microSD Card breakout boards available

    all over the internet.

     

    You need to Format the SD Card with FAT16 (default file allocation size in Windows format command in GUI).

     

    Use samples from FAT16/FAT32 libraries available for Arduino.

     

    With these things you can control whatever you want to control using Arduino and SD Card

    Also check Arduino playground site for more details on how SD card can be connected to the board.

    You don't give quite enough detail about your apploication to give any definite advice but it looks as if you would like to read data and audio files from the same sd card. There is a  sparkfun board to help do this which is a bit different form a standard SD card interface because it has the audio file playing chip.

     

    I'm not sure how you mean to add trigger points to an audio file - it might be simpler to keep the trigger points in a separate file as time offsets form the start of the audio file.
