A little code help please

I'm trying to trouble shoot some code and this has me stumped...

}

temp = temp % pow_ten[left_digit+1]; 

 

/* Trim digits to right of right_digit */

temp = temp / pow_ten[right_digit]; 

temp = temp * pow_ten[right_digit];

if (temp < 12) {
temp = 12;
}
if (temp > (20000uL*100)) {
temp = 20000uL*100;

temp is to be either 12 or 20000uL*100 then trim the digits then put it right back to 12 or 20000uL*100?

 

It's been a while since I programmed and my current programming interest is Python but this has me stumped...

 

So no change is made to temp other then setting it to 12 or 20000uL*100?

The trim digits is nullified is it not?

 

Sorry if it's a stupid question I must be missing something really easy lol

    There is a  return statment (I thought it would just return 12 or 20000uL*100 so I had not listed it) but I'm guessing by your answer that my notion that the trim statment is nullified is wrong. Thank you for the response image

     

    I was thinking:

     

    Value= 1 or 7

     

    //do all kinds of stuff to value here

     

    Value= 1 or 7

     

     

    their by making "//do all kinds of stuff to value here" void...

     

    It's been a long time since I programed. We used line numbers image

    if (temp < 12) {
    temp = 12;
    }
    if (temp > (20000uL*100)) {
    temp = 20000uL*100;
    }

     

    This code doesn't result in temp being either 12 or 20000*100,

    intead it results in temp being somewhere between 12 and 20000*100.

    That is, if temp started out as say 25, then neither "if" statement would

    be true, so temp would not change.

     

    So the code that trims right and left digits will in fact not be nullified.
