Pre-Configured Electronics

I’m looking for advice on where I could purchase an electronic microprocessor such as an Arduino or MSP430 which comes with certain shields or sensors already pre-installed and configured. 


I’m looking to start a design project that will require electronics.  I’ve not had experience of using electronics nor do I have time to pick it up, I solely see it being a functional requirement for the design. 


I need a PCB / microprocessor that comes assembled with both a infrared proximity sensor and have bluetooth connectivity.


I will need the ability to programme the IR sensor, and I’m comfortable with programming tools such for the Arduino or MSP430.


Size is a constraining factor, I’ve only got a small area where I can install this hardware, about 7cm by 7 cm. 


Ultimately this would allow me to have access to the electronics, already configured, without me having to invest time in learning how to build them. 


Is there a website that takes your ‘shopping list’ and goes away and build this type of processor with sensors, or perhaps somewhere which has a boat load of electronics and it just so happens that the configuration I need is already built?

    Hi Tony,

     

    I don't know of an existing board within that size with bluetooth and IR, however you could assemble an arduino board, bluetooth board and IR sensor module together. That doesn't require much knowledge of electronics, in the same way that assembling a USB keyboard and mouse to a computer doesn't require much knowledge of computing - there are standards called I2C and SPI, so if your devices support the standard, then they can be connected to an arduino, much like USB devices can be connected to a PC.

    The connectors are not standard, so you will have to connect the wiring. An IR sensor will likely not be I2C or SPI, but will be a serial stream on a single wire, so not much to get confused with when wiring it up.

    There is no website with a shopping list for automated assembly, but if you pay someone, I'm sure they could assemble the items together for you without you having to spend time learning how to do it (or as mentioned, you could connect them yourself).

     

    Not that I've used it, but this bluetooth module plus this board look as though they will fit your size restriction. They also have a tiny IR sensor module. I noticed in the posts on that page, someone had created an arduino library for the sensor.
