Problem identifying Arduino MEGA2560 Revision (R3)

e14 Contributor

I have a vendor claiming that the Arduino Mega 2560 he shipped to us is a Rev3 although it is not indicated on the silkcreen. Simple question, are all R3’s marked as R3 or not necessarily? Visually the R3 changes are identical on this new board, as per arduino.org, with the exception of any markings that it is an R3. Believe it or not, this “minor” detail is holding up production.Thanks.

Ask your local Atmel distributor, but we've had some issues with Atmel chip revisions in the past, and the code was, in this case, at the BACK side of the package. That was a TQFP, I guess you should be…

Thanks Victor...To clarify, are you saying that there are different ATmega16Us that is distinct with the Rev3?

Ow, sorry Jeff, I think I misunderstood. I thought you were talking about chip (silicon) revisions, bu I think you mean board revisions. Maybe you could be a bit clearer about the revisions you mean so…

Sure. I assumed that it was understood since it fell under the Arduino heading. I will rephrase my original question. Thanks for the tip.
