Arduino for Musical Instruments!

    After searching lot for Musical instruments I found almost no project . But what I figure out with MP3 shield it can be done. Any one suggest option for MP3 shield? Can I use Raspberry PI for Audio Output. In Raspberry Pi also I didn't found answer. Can anybody guide me?

    Doing it with arduino will be more difficult and expensive try doing it with Raspberry Pi, there are many such projects on the internet...

    Hi Sanjay,

    If you want to build a musical instrument, a Pi might be more than you need. For example, you'll find many exampls of how to build a Cigar Box Guitar from basically a piezo sensor, and a speaker jack... but you are right, you could use a Pi to accept and amplify the output...I suppose you could record the output and edit it with software running on your Pi

    I think , you are sugesting to use input as keyboard signal which will play a note ( recorded) on return. but it will be one note at a time.  while playing organ / piano I press ten keys with both hand. which require more than one notes. Is it possible to mix multiple file play? I doubt it may require more hardware.

    More than one note at a time is called Polyphonic

    I did a quick search and found this project based on arduino for a polyphonic synthesizer

    I just didn't know what type of musical instrument you are wanting to create a keyboard, drums, guitar, etc

    Just want have keyboard equivalent to Rollands JX3p or higher.. i.e. console organ ( Cinama Organ) at cost afforadable to any one. wha can afford String Guitar.

    Ah, OK thanks Sanjay,

    Here's one some friends of mine have built, but it is currently only a 3 note polyphonic. I have asked them for some ideas on how to make it 10 note  polyphonic. Do you actually want to build the keys as well? or would you modify an existing cheap or broken keyboard?

    Hi Tim Massaro ,

    It's not just broken /repair . A new Instrument from Keys to Speakers. Just didn't find after reading every project available on internet, what I found no one has really tried to have expensive Instrument built with major facility which electronic tech can give. for example If you have Roland's keyboard and PC both can be interfaced via MIDI  port, whatever software available on PC , can be played on organ / synthesizer. and other way whatever effect / tones available on synthesizer / organ can be modify to give expansion . scope creativity is vast. Musician had very few knowledge of software and utilisation and Technician has very limited about syntheszer. But since I am learning from childhood about both streams for about 40 years . I am aware what both streams has capacity. In fact it's my dream to have 88keys instrument of my own ever since it was transistrised electronics.. even first MIDI synthesizer built by Australian engineer , I have studied and understood what he was doing. Since it is expensive way. I couldn't even try .also In India it was impossible to get all component require for. No one even thought it could be built.
