Arduino uno to micro

Former Member
Former Member over 11 years ago

Hi I am a student studying technology at A-Levels. I have just got my arduino uno to work as a stopwatch and I have bought an arduino micro and a 1X8 LCD display. I am going to be putting the stopwatch onto the micro and I was just wondering If I would receive any problems by doing this? nd how would I resolve these?

Many thanks, Sarah.

    Ms. Hewitt:

First, the Uno is different than the Micro in a fundamental way, i.e, the Uno uses the ATmega328P and the Micro uses the ATmega32U4 microcontroller.  I'd first suggest you get the data sheet for both components and study the differences vis a vis your stop watch program.  Additionally, the pin assignments for the Uno and Micro may have significant differences; the LCD wiring will certainly be different; and the built in timers may not function exactly the same between the two devices.   The answers to all your questions are in the data sheets and on the Arduino reference pages.  I've included several links below.  There's even a page on Arduino describing the differences between these two devices here.

After you have had a chance to review the design differences between Uno and Micro, please re-post with specific questions.  It's much easier for the forum to respond to specific problems.  That's just a guide of course, feel free to ask any questions you want.  You will, however, get better answers when asking specific questions.

    Good luck,

    Kevin H.
