How to text data from my Arduino

kjhart0133

Hello all,

I'm working on a project to collect remote data using a remotely located XBee configured as an end device, a local XBee configured as a coordinator, and an Arduino Mega.  I then send that data to my Mac using Processing.  This part is all working properly and I've successfully created a file on the Mac with my data.

The next step is to have the computer (the Mac) send a text message to my smart phone that contains the data in a readable form. It's at this point that I'm lost and don't know how to proceed.  Can anyone guide me to books or tutorials that shows how to use my computer to construct text messages from data in a file and how to send these messages to a smart phone.

I realize this is a pretty broad question, but I really only need someone to point me in the right direction at first.

Thanks,

Kevin H.
