To use a fibre gyro for this purpose would be silly - if your college supervisor or boss has told you to do so I suggest you get some quotes for fibre gyros (you can google for suppliers) and some MEMs solid state parts like those Mark has referenced and then ask the supervisor/boss if they are actually willing to cough up with the money.
