My arduino car project

Hi, My name is Andrew. I have been making an RC car using an arduino. When I connect the stepper motors to the arduino pins, the motors either don't work or rotate slowly. When I connect a motor shield to the arduino I don't know the correct pins to connect the motors since the pins are not labelled 13,12, or 1,2,3 . So I want ask you to send me an image of a motor shield that has labelled pins(13,12 and so on) and connects to an arduino.

    The shield link would be good

     

    For sure you can not drive a motor directly from the Arduino, it will draw way too much power and the Arduino can not provide that, you need to use the shield or build your own driver

     

    When you post he shield info we can help more

         How is that image of the shield coming along? Also is there any text on the shield that might hint at the name of it?

    If you want to control motors with an arduino you need to use a transistor with the collector connected to one of the wires on the motor and the emitter connected to the 5v supply rail on your arduino board then the base pin connected to an I-0 pin on the arduino.

    The Arduino 5V rail will not be able to supply the current for an RC motor. You will also need more than just a transistor connected the way you describe

    with the exception that this too uses the 5V rail to supply the motor, this will work for the smallest of motors with no load on them but not RC cars
