Arduino Project just not fully working looking for help.

I am trying to build a Distance measuring device using an Arduino UNO with a I2C LCD and Wiznet 5100 Ethernet shield and SD all combined.

I have succeeded in the W5100 part but when I add the I2C LCD library and the Wire library for the LCD,the SD part of the Ethernet shield no longer works properly , as far as the web page is concerned. I am using "ajax" and my SD to display a dial on the web page but the part that fails, with no error codes of any kind is the web page dial. The dial will not load from the SD card. I know that I am trying to use 2 SPI devices along with a I2c device but loading the wire and the LiquidCrystal_I2C libraries and then trying the program the display has no data and neither does the web page as far as the dial goes.

Can anyone give me some insight as to why the SRF05 and the W5100 and SD and LCD don't get along. If I rem out the Wire and the I2C libraries the web page works just fine.

I have attached 2 files for my project, 1 is the code and the other is the htm file for the gauge.

I have uploaded the working sketch as far as the Ethernet and SD is concerned but This is only part of what I want. I would like to add the I2c LCD with its libraries and still have the Ethernet part still work.

Probably the best way to see what issue I am having is to bread board this project for youself and see if you can make it work with Ethernet card and SD card and I2C LCD. If you get it to work like I am trying then please let me know.

Well, after quite a bit of playing around I have it working 1. Running out of RAM and possibly very close of Program space too 2. needed to add a statement to run the SD card at lower speed, It seems that the timers ma be getting messed with, though now I have this working I have not gone back to verify 3. Needed to use my Arduino 2560 to prove the memory issue, as soon as it was there things started to work correctly 4. the Dial Gauge code will not respond to my XML response so I change it to use simple text, then it drove the dial correctly 5. I used one of my alternate sources of LCD library as the I2C chips on my LCD serial cards are not compatible with the standard serial library anyway, this is all I played with, bit more time than I hoped it would take but it does work providing it is on a controller with More ram than the 328 (Arduino UNO) Try it and let me know what luck you have Sorry its not too pretty, I figured you can see what I have done and integrate it into your own code Good luck Peter

Peter/Warren You should be able to check your useage based on this http://blog.oscarliang.net/check-ram-memory-usage-arduino-optimization/ This helps with optimising it to save a few bytes. https://learn.adafruit.com/memories-of-an-arduino/optimizing-sram There are a large number of unused entries in the LCD library that could be removed. ie home, nocursor, cursor, scrollDisplayLeft, scrollDisplayRight, etc some you may not want to use in this particular application. Likewise in the SD library, there are some you may never use. Copy the library and give it another name, then edit (comment out), save and call the new name one. If you publish, then include the revised library. Mark
