How to use a toggle switch?

I am trying to use a toggle switch but I am not getting the function of a toggle switch. You see toggle switches can have multiple functionality. They can function (ON) - (OFF), ON - (OFF), OFF - (ON), (ON) - (ON), (OFF) - (OFF), OFF - (OFF), ON - (ON), and more. But I just want a switch where I can have continuous on and off two way switch. See I have no idea what (ON), ON, (OFF) .and OFF. Can anybody help me and also recommend a good place to buy cheap switches that work? Can somebody also give me good code with arduino for using toggle switches.

Dear: Peter or his Minions You should know first of all I have been searching for two weeks which is a total of 8 hours listening to advice from my father about toggle switches and I don't think I should have trusted a software engineer with electronics. You see I found a deal, a decent description, and a tutorial all in one. So wish me good luck doing electrical/mechanical engineering part of my project. Also peter say hi to your minions for me.
