    Hi Parth,

I would like to suggest few methods for this in order to get the indication of your cell phone. Few of mentioned are indeed Indian poor man's creativity(jugaads)

    1.  Even though you are not putting your cellphone on silent mode, you can use a sticker flasher at the backside of your cellphone and place your phone in a reverse manner in a pouch attached to side of a PC. hopefully these can be procured from any mobile shop.

    2. I am providing you the links below where a simple copper loop is used to detect radio waves and works on the principle of EMI and bright led is the indicator which can be useful. Its very simple to implement. You can put this nearby your working desk in your office while enjoying the music on the PC.

    3. you are the firmware developer for your company as per your profile indications, find out the solution such that when phone is connected with USB cable and it rings, send some arbitrary data via phone serial port(RX,TX) to usb hub and that can be captured at the windows end in a software which can be king of virtual LED glowing. digging up with phone's PC suite might help if you nitty gitties of software programming on windows platform.

    4. Make a simple cellphone detector circuit using electronic components (below link) 555 which is capable of running on 1.5 v simple AA cell. Attach this to the serial port of your PC and make a simple form in VB6 to capture digital 1 or 0 (call incoming/no call) and can be run in the background easily.

If you can handle USB port then capture the signal from led in C sharp application.

I hope the above methods will surely help you.

Parth, I would like to know your profile, and in fact I would like to tell you that I had applied in your company even last month for the position of embedded developer(Secure meters). I am presently working as Technology evangelist at Maverick console services and my area of interest is firmware developing,Embedded systems, robotics, digital signal processing.

    Hi Parth,

Oh so you were looking for the solution of Landline Telephone( hopefully intercom/personal at your desk). Its very simple just add neon bulb with in parallel to your telephone line It will give an visual indication when the phone rings. I do have other circuits as well with passive components which can be easily made as per your chioce. Once you get the signal, connect it to the PC and make an visual application for incoming call .

The AC signal from the phone will generate Magnetic Field which in proportion  picked up by the coil as an electric signal and and bias the transistor and further drive the circuit.

Read the following pages for your reference.

All the links are too good for providing the solution. Just be patient.

I have added you as a contact.

Even I love creativity that's why chose robotics field. I have made many minor electronic project in early years of my job. I am having total of 3yrs+ experience into this field.

It was glad to talk to an Indian on such a global platform.

    Bye
