What ultrasound sensor to use for robot?

Hi,

so i'm making my first real project, a robot!

and i've gotten really far, i think the only part missing is some sort of sensor to make it avoid stuff...

preferably an ultrasound sensor (looks easy enough to use...) i don't wich one to buy though. i want the robot to avoid stuff thats aprox 4-15 cm.

any help would help!

    I agree

    A IR sensor is great for that kind of distance range

    If you want something more cheap, think about a microswitch

    Agreed, IR for very close, Ultrasonic for probably between 4” to several feet, then Lasers or something ofter that
