These days saving money is the only way to ensure you have money and I personally don't like my own method of saving money because I tend to break it with impulse buying. It's a bad habit I'm sure I'm not the only person to have but I need a better way of controlling my spending habits. I've come up with a pretty basic concept of a wooden box, maybe some steel core in the center so it can't be drilled so easily but just to make this question abit more straight forward I'm just going to list the things i need this box to do.
- Should be the size of less of a standard ATX computer case, less is preferred but I have the perfect spot for it.
- Should have two compartments, one side for coins and 1 side for bills
- The coin side should have a timer lock, I don't want any access to the coins till the end of this year (2015)
- The bill portion should have a deposit slot and a pin activated timer to unlock it. I want to have it set to after the pin number is put in that it takes 24 hours before the piston actually opens the lock. After the timer counts down the pin needs to be entered again (so if I'm away for more then 24 hours someone can't just open the safe and take the money) then the piston unlocks.
- I need a duel power system, batteries and a plug in (maybe 5v so I can use a simple phone microusb charger) so if the batteries die I'm not screwed.
- Key-override (I'll keep the key frozen in a block of ice or something) just for the worst case scenario.
These are the basics of this box, I just need to know what electronic wise would fit for the job, I'm very new to the world of electronics yet this is a project I've always wanted to do.
