Arduino UNO Question ??

Heyy.... I just brought Arduino UNO starter kit few months ago..... Now my arduino does not even work if I plugged to the USB port and uploaded my sketch..... It says port com not found and I even get some electric shocks from the small chip which says 504L on the arduino microcontroller if I plugged the USB into the Arduino UNO R3........ For past few months, it was working really well but all of a sudden it stopped working and even if I plugged the USB over arduino the LED'S does not blink at all... So what would you suggest me to do in order to bring life back to Arduino ????

    Hello Sarah,

     

    it sounds strange that even if you are using a clone (what is a clone of something that is a clone of himself ?) your board stop working at all. I suggest to try the following troubleshooting at least to have an idea and focus the problem with more precision:

     

    1. If you have not done yet, try plugging the Arduino in another usb computer or - better - power it with a USB cable connected to a simple wall-mount charger (like the ones that are used by mobile phones). Does it works? If it works it is very probable that the problem is for some reason in the PC instead of the Arduino; in this case I am not sure if you should be happy or sad image
    2. Try to replace the USB cable, it seems another stupid solution but for a reason that I have never discovered a couple of my USB cables started to show this strange behaviour.
    3. if nothing happens and you have a tester or at least a LED, try to see if there is current to the GND - 5VC pinout of the board.
    4. If possible, try to power the Arduino with the external plug without connecting the USB cable. Use a 9-12 V battery pack if you have or a wall mount power supply of the same power (1A - 9 VCC should work in someway).

     

    If the processor or other components are not broken, the Arduino should have retained the last sketch you have uploaded with success.

     

    Please report what's happen and we can try other ways if the problem is in the Arduino USB.
