Arduino Processing and Excel

Hi

 

How do I get XL2000 to send low volume of data to Arduino monitor and on to device.    Sending 5-10 characters per minute from cells in single column of XL.

 

Can I get XL to  have an input to monitor or use XL with a simple processing gui (which one?)   XL will be used to originate data for transmission.

 

That is either:    send data from XL to monitor and device and/or   send data from XL to gui.

 

Similar or less volume for sending data to XL from  Arduino device.

 

Just need help/answer on the  XL vba to communicate with monitor or processing gui

    Do you know VBA? If so, this describes a way to send data from a cell or more to Arduino using Putty while a sketch is running there already. SSH Client using VBA - Excel VBA Templates

    PS if you want to send the whole file after installing putty, use pscp source_file_name userid@server_name:/path/destination_file_name

    The command line interface for putty is plink.exe. You can use plink to send commands over ssh.

    For example: PS C:> c:\progra~2\putty\plink.exe -i C:\credentials\mykeyfile.ppk root@myserver.com "ls";

    Things to remember:

    The first time you connect to a server, you'll have to add it to your registry, so this won't work in a non-interactive mode for brand new servers.  There isn't a way to disable this.

    The key file has to be in ppk format for plink.exe to recognize it. If yours is in pem format, use puttygen.exe to create a ppk file.

    The path to the key file cannot contain any spaces, or the command above won't work.

    If you want to send multiple commands at once, write them to a file and use the -m switch with plink.exe.

    If you need to transfer files, you can use pscp.exe in a similar fashion.

    Hi Clem

     

    Thanks for your input.  At 71 it is a bit over my head.  For a hobby  project.

     

    In Putty, I do not want to use a server,  can I still use Putty?  If so  what tabs in Putty do I need to use to enter the Arduino location and also the Excel address ?

    I can find may around vba ok.  Do you know of any examples of Excel sending to Arduino monitor or a form in the monitor.  Which way is it done, doesthe monitor request the info from Excel, or does Excel send to monitor on demand?

    Sorry for my lack of knowledge.
