Arduino serial moniter

Im trying to build a button martix keyboard (need help with that) and I decided to go my own way and make it use the arduinos serial moniter to detect if a certain row and column was pulled high or low and have a pre assigned value like if i press this button it detects and says oh! thats an f and displays it in the serial moniter

    well good news is i figured out how to make it and make it work i have 2 buttons wired right now pushing one gives a 1 and pushing other gives 5 or 2 or whatever i want them to be,

    layout:

    row 1 "1"

    row 2  "2"

    now i want to make it so if i press 1 i get the arduino to print in serial moniter something like Serial.println("wrong")

    and pressing 2 will give "right" i will of course change this later but its a starting point
