How to change Arduino IDE to eliminate Nicla Sense compile error from leftover MATLAB support package

robogary
robogary over 3 years ago

This is question is similar to a previous FORUM question regarding for MATLAB support packages where the fix was to reinstall the Arduino IDE.

I Did that , it didnt work to fix the compile error as the c:\programdata\matlab\supportpackages\........did not get deleted.

I also renamed c:\programdata\matlab\..............to c:\programdata\matlab_OLD\.......

After doing that change, the IDE didnt recognize BOARDs in Boards MANAGER. I reinstalled needed BOARDS , then opened Arduino IDE, IDE graciously created a new c:\programdata\matlab\.........folder for me.

Any other ideas to get the ARDUINO IDE to stop using this MATLAB support package ? I havent found a knob in the Arduino IDE to redirect it.  The MATLAB license expired 3years ago, I didnt renew, and uninstalled MATLAB.

The Arduino IDE continued to use this MATLAB directory, usually without incident. But NOW Its stuck and wont allow the use of Nicla.

Please, any suggestions are appreciated.

The specific error:

c:\programdata\matlab\supportpackages\r2018b\3p.instrset\arduinoide.instrset\idepkgs\packages\arduino\tools\arm-none-eabi-gcc\7-2017q4\arm-none-eabi\include\c++\7.2.1\type_traits:38:10: fatal error: bits/c++config.h: No such file or directory

 #include <bits/c++config.h>

          ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

compilation terminated.

Using library Arduino_BHY2 at version 1.0.4 in folder: C:\Users\GaryY\Documents\Arduino\libraries\Arduino_BHY2

exit status 1

Error compiling for board Nicla Sense ME.

    Thank you for contacting Arduino Support Team,

    To uninstall support package for Arduino hardware:

    • On the MATLAB Home tab, in the Environment section, click Add-Ons > Manage Add-Ons.
    • In the Add-On Manager window, find and click the support package, and then click Uninstall.
    • Navigate to the following folder on your computer and delete the contents you find there:

    Windows = C:\ProgramData\MATLAB\SupportPackages\R20XXx\
    Mac = /Users/<username>/Documents/MATLAB/SupportPackages/R20XXx/
    Linux = /home/<username>/Documents/MATLAB/SupportPackages/R20XXx/
    NOTE: ProgramData is a hidden folder, but you can use the shortcut %ProgramData% from Windows Search to jump right to the current user's ProgramData folder.

    • Open the 'Downloads' folder on your computer, then navigate to \MathWorks\SupportPackages\R20XXx\. Delete the contents of the "R20XXx" folder. NOTE: This will remove all support packages that you currently have installed.
    • Run the Support Package installer again and re-install your Support Package now.

    Also, we recommend to do a complete uninstall then reinstall the Arduino IDE version 1.8.19 by doing the following:

    • Execute the uninstaller

    • Delete Arduino15 Folder
      • Where can I find the Arduino15 folder
    • Reinstall the newest version of the Arduino IDE.
      • re-installing the Arduino IDE.
