Microphone Compatibility - Feather to Trinket Adafruit

Alexander28
Alexander28 over 2 years ago

Currently using the following board and microphone together:

https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/microcontroller-development-tools/1245513

https://www.rapidonline.com/adafruit-1713-electret-microphone-amplifier-max9814-with-auto-gain-control-73-5387?gad=1

Wanting to switch to the Trinket below:

As I just don't need the bluetooth or other capabilities of the feather, and the trinket is much cheaper.

Anyone know if they are compatible, and if i would just wire in in the same way, or if i should be using another microphone?

Also assuming you would upload to them and program them up in the same way?

Really appreciate any help, thank you all!

Adafruit has a project that does that https://learn.adafruit.com/trinket-sound-reactive-led-color-organ/overview - it uses the Trinket.

The two boards are obviously different and use different processors - so you may need to use a different pin for the analogue input.

You haven't said what you actually do with the microphone signal  - so it's not possible to tell from here if the the processor differences matter.

I hope you won't mind me asking this - and that everyone at E14 is happy to have you on board - but would no one at RS or Design Spark help ?

If you could use the Trinket (not pro) you can get it from Amazon for even less (£6.79).

I am using the Microphone to light up NeoPixels as an output from the Board.

Yup, have fired an email off to RS and hope to have a response in a few days, but thought i would try here, as with them doing so much stuff, im not sure they will have much specific knowledge, but you never know eh.

    You're very welcome here !

I'm no expert on Arduino but I think you might well get the Trinket (not the Pro) to do what you want'. Perhaps some one who has used one might be able to chime in and comment.
