Microphone Compatibility - Feather to Trinket Adafruit

Alexander28
Alexander28 over 2 years ago

Currently using the following board and microphone together:

https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/microcontroller-development-tools/1245513

https://www.rapidonline.com/adafruit-1713-electret-microphone-amplifier-max9814-with-auto-gain-control-73-5387?gad=1

Wanting to switch to the Trinket below:

As I just don't need the bluetooth or other capabilities of the feather, and the trinket is much cheaper.

Anyone know if they are compatible, and if i would just wire in in the same way, or if i should be using another microphone?

Also assuming you would upload to them and program them up in the same way?

Really appreciate any help, thank you all!

Adafruit has a project that does that https://learn.adafruit.com/trinket-sound-reactive-led-color-organ/overview - it uses the Trinket.

Compability wise, yes, you could use almost any board that can read analog signals, but the question is what you are trying to achieve, your project might be dependent on what the mcu can do with that analog reading /how it has to be processed.

if you want t oget something like the amplitude of a noise and move a servo accordingly the trinket is fine, and so would any Arduino or a rpi pico, its more about what you are comfortable working with and what language you like to code in.
I´d advise to google for libraries for whatever module you fancy fist to see if there are any for Arduino /micropython  and usually it tells you if it has requirements for combability.
also the search here on Element14 often yields good results.

in your case it seems it wont matter.

I welcome everyone asking questions here, it just shows that this is a welcoming  community for enthusiast, no matter where you get the parts from, but in case something is not working as expected you´d need to go to the actual source for support.(which might be difficult depending on where you buy)

I am using the Microphone to light up NeoPixels as an output from the Board.
The larger quantity of sound, the more i light up the pixels. E.g. Turning sound into light.
