Help with Ardrunio Uno and Stepper code

I work with generic precision steppers (1.8 degree step angle) and higher amps (1 to 3 A), I haven't had much joy with the Adafruit L293D shield.  Are there suitable shields available for the Uno that will support industrial steppers?  Hopefully I can also get some advice on coding.

    should be able to find one that meets your specs although you will have to look farther down the list past the more popular ones to find it.
