i want to know arduino and Atmega are different controllers or same.

but apart from boot-loader. can we say Atmega328 is same as arduino uno.?i want to know both controller performance level.
ATMega328 microcontroller is used on many Arduino boards.
A bootloader is loaded into the controller so it can be programmed.
Plenty of info on loading a bootloader on the Arduino.cc site.
