More of a makeup, kinda like a trial separation of a couple

they started out as one and then had a tiff, now there making up and getting back together

So romantic

and a good thing for all the users of Arduino

I think it is a good thing - it makes the arduino movement more likely to be a continuing consistent standard.
I'm not sure how the merger between Atmel and Microchip will play out in terms of support for makers, but a strong arduino movement should keep all MCU manufacturers reasonable.
