GPU for zedboard

Former Member

What is being used for the GPU?  It looks like it is the FPGA fabric that is acting as the GPU.  Is there a standard core that is free that is being used to do this?  I am interested in using this board to run a small display and see that the board has an HDMI driver but what is the GPU?  Is there a Linux driver for this GPU core?

There is no GPU on the board.
Xylon does offer a 3D Graphics IP:
    http://www.logicbricks.com/Products/logi3D.aspx
It supports only OpenGLES 1.1, so it still can't run shader which requires OpenGLES 2. If that's what you mean "GPU".

If you just want draw 2D images, frame buffer could be an option.
Also look into reference designs provided at:
    http://www.zedboard.org/design
They show how to drive VGA and/or HDMI.

ZC702 board has reference designs using Xylon's logiCVC-ML IP:

I assume we can use it on ZED.
