Zedboard, Speedway Training  Lab 11

Dear Sir:

I purchased a brand new Xilinx   development board, Zynq-7000 EPP 7Z020 Zedboard kit that uses - ISE Design Suite: Design Edition Device Locked Edition Node Locked software (ISE).   I believe that I downloaded the appropriate speedway tutorial for my software package (Vivado 2013).   There does exist a slight difference with respect to the 2013 software packages.   Take notice that 2 different 2013 software versions exist, Vivado 2013.3 and Vivado 2013.4;  2013.3 was the only downloadable software package available for download, however, I am using Vivado 2013.4).

I started Speedway Lab 11 (a copy of Lab 11 will be attached in the following post for your convenience) which utilizes flash memory.  To use the Xilinx In-system and Serial Flash Library, specific "standalone BSP" settings must be set.  The lab BSP settings are not available for my software package version.

See steps 10 through 12 of Lab 11, the "standalone BSP" configuration settings reference OS version 3.11A and  makes reference to Spansion QSPI flash (referenced to xilisf library version 3.02.z).   I do not have this option.  My OS version is 3.12.a and my xilisf library is 3.02.a.  My available memory choices will be listed in a following post as a "snapshot" and other "snapshots" will be uploaded for your convenience.  This forum website does not permit the user to attach documents with the "initial" (first) posting.

Note:  I did not purchase an external Flash memory card to go along with my Zedboard kit.

       My question is:

With my existing hardware and software configuration, does a "workaround" exist such that I can get lab 11 working as set forth in the instructions in Lab 11?

If the answer to this question is no, does another solution exist such as a different download version of the same tutorials, or the purchase an external flash memory card and an accompanying software installation, etc.?

I tried to upload the attachments to this post.  This option is not available to me.

When someone attempts to reply to this question I will attempt to send them the snapshots and Lab 11 in *.pdf form.

I can't understand why this option is not available.  This option certainly makes the explanation of problems and the solutions for the problems easier to convey to all parties.

We always recommend that you use the same version of software for which the lab or tutorial was created or you run into problems like this. I believe there were differences in the Xilinx software related to this issue between 2013.3 and 2013.4. You would either need to install 2013.3, or you could look at upgrading to 2014.4 and then use the latest Speedway files that were just recently released. The Zynq 7020 that is on the ZedBoard is supported in WebPack, which is free, so there is no penalty for upgrading to 2014.4.
