Linux Benchmark

Hello everyone,

I just got to know about ZedBoard, and I am interested in buying one, But before that I want to know following information

1) Linux performance on this board. Are there any benchmark available for this board?

2) Will someone tell me how much is its processor i.e. 500MHz or 800MHz?

3) What is the ethernet throughput? i.e. By using 1Gbps mode, how much datarate it will ACTUALLY give?

Hello HSCD,

Let me take them one at a time:

1. What kind of benchmarks would you like to see? Base Kernel or running Debian? Is Linpack fine? Or something else?

2. The ARM sub system of the Zynq device has two A9 cores running at 667MHz, 733MHz, or 800MHz based on what speed grade you are purchasing. The Zedboard ships with a -1 speed grade so the processors are running at 667MHz.

3. I did a test where I downloaded a file from a local webserver (Ubuntu 12.04 LTS running Apache2).

Command used: $ time wget --output-document=/dev/null http://192.168.2.86/file.png

Filesize: 230717544 Bytes.
Transfer Time: 3.94 Seconds
Transfer Rate: 58,557,752 Byes/second (468,462,018 bits/second)

Looks like, with wget running from the command line, the transfer speed is about 50% of what the connection can support. Now this, again, is just a simple wget test ... I'll see if I can put together a ligit speed test program.

Also note that doing the same test from the same Apache box to another server ran at the full speed of 112MB/S. (Apache server was in a VM, and client was a physical server).
