Zedboard and Aptina Image Sensor

I would like to use the ZYNQ 7000 SoC for a video camera development but I am completely new to using an SoC or FPGA. I thought that the zedboard might be a good introductory board to learn FPGA design but I am wondering if the zedboard can be interfaced with my image sensor. Our image sensor is an Aptina CMOS image sensor that uses the HiSPi data interface (high-speed serial pixel interface) sub-LVDS. I just want to know if I will run into interfacing issues before purchasing a zedboard.

    Mico,

    I encountered the same situation when designing the Toshiba TCM3232PB camera module.

    Although this camera module interfaces to the MicroZed SOM (via the Embedded Vision carrier card), and not the ZedBoard, it is a similar situation to the one you are describing.  In this case, we were constrained to a 2.5V I/O bank, and did not have the option to add on-board termination at the receiver.  We chose to use a LVDS receiver with internal terminateion (TERM = TRUE).

    Please refer to the Toshiba camera module's hardware user guide for a discussion on the compatibility between a sub-LVDS transmitter (image sensor) and the LVDS_25 receiver on the Zynq-7010/7020 device.  Before we built the hardware, we validated compatibility with a HSpice simulation.
