Hello!
I'm interested in using Zedboard in a "bare metal" setup. My question is - would I need to buy additional tools for bare-metal application development on Zedboard?
Some additional background:
As per Xilin'x XAPP1079 app note (http://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/application_notes/xapp1079-amp-bare-metal-cortex-a9.pdf), there *is* support for bare-metal BSP on the Zynq-7000 AP and it is included as part of the EDK 14.3 installation.
As per other questions on this forum, I understand that purchase of Zedboard is not bundled with any Xilinx's tool licenses, but we can use the ISE Webpack edition that is available for free from Xilinx.
The ISE product page (http://www.xilinx.com/products/design-tools/ise-design-suite.html) mentions that: "The ISE Design Suite also offers a-la-cart tools to enhance designer productivity and to provide flexible configurations of the Design Suite Editions... The Embedded Development Kit (EDK) is an integrated development environment for designing embedded processing systems for use with WebPACK edition.". Further, clicking on the link for EDK takes us to a page where EDK is shown to be costing $495 per seat.
Any help appreciated!
Regards,
Karthick
