ZYNQ I2C...

mayurishinde

Hello everyone..

I am new to zynq.. I want to write and read EEPROM from ZYNQ PL through I2C. which IP should I use ZYNQ AXI IIC or I2C master controller?

What is the difference if i use axi_iic IP & if I use PS I2C controller using EMIO?

Please guide..

Thank you..

    Hello Mayurishinde,

Either in theory could work. However from my experience with both, the PL AXI IIC controller tends to be far more reliable. My suggestion to you would be to use the PL AXI IIC block controller.

The difference is that the I2C protocol is handled by the axi IIC PL IP instead of being taken care of by the cortexa9 in the Zynq. One uses the PS the other the PL. Just because you choose to route the PS I2C controller signals through the PL via EMIO doesn't mean its the same as using the axi_iic block IP. Does that solve your questions?
