No package git available

Hi,

I'm trying to follow the lab0_1_v05.
Here the virtual machine and CentOS are installed

On page 27, instruction 8 is to install ncurses-devel as well as git.

ncurses-devel goes well.

Git however doesn't seems to exist.
I get the message: "No package git available"

How can I solve that?

Hi,

This works for me:
1) login as root
2) open terminal:
3) type in: yum -y install zlib-devel openssl-devel cpio expat-devel gettext-devel
4) Start Firefox
5) go to http://code.google.com/p/git-core/downloads/list
6) Download the 1.8.1.5 version of the tool
7) store it in usr/local/src
8) Go back to the terminal
9) type in: cd /usr/local/src
10) type in: tar xvzf git-1.8.1.5.tar.gz
11) type in: cd git-1.8.1.5
12) type in: ./configure
13) type in: make
14) type in: make install

Hi,

Although it was a nice to get this working, the main reason it wasn't working was because I used CentOS5, while it should be CentOS6.
