no hdmi out - [Smarter Vision Design Seminar]

Hello, I am interested in experimenting with "Smarter Vision Design Seminar" uploaded project files (http://zedboard.org/course/smarter-vision-design-seminar). Working on zedboard, i haven't connected any "HDMI Input/Output FMC Module", as TPG is enough as a signal source for my tests, so fmc connector is floating.

What i get when loading sd card with "sd_image" files found under lab1, while monitoring serial port, is the menu indicated in the tutorial (so video_library_cmd is executed), but there is no signal coming to my monitor which is connected to zedboard's hdmi port, independently on my menu selection, with no error message indicating some erroneous state.

I wonder if the lack of the module causes any concflict when attempting to run application.

Please consult.

Regards

    Hello,

When the linux image boots, you should see the command console on the monitor for a short period.

When the "video_library_cmd" application executes, the monitor will display a black screen.

If you don't have the FMC module, the TPG and "Live Video" options will not work.

The "Decoded Video File" will work.

If the monitor was not recognized before the application started executing, it will not display anything on the monitor.

When this happens, the workaround is to exit the application, then re-launch it.

    1) exit the application by pressing the '0', then 'ENTER' keys

    2) login to linux using user 'root', with password 'root'

    3) re-launch application with the following commands

          cd /mnt/card

          ./video_library_cmd

    I hope this helps !

    Regards,

    Mario.

    Hi Mario,

Thanks a lot for your response.
It seems that there is a conflict with files (BOOT.bin, image.ub) found under lab1, which gave me erroneous state already described.
Updating SD card content with files found under ZynqVision2013_3solutionslab4sd_image (BOOT.bin, image.ub),
hopefully problem solved and have now a working system like the one you said.

However Frames per second metric returns 2 frames per second, using decoded file with no filter.
Do you believe is a hardware issue (slow sd card maybe) or system configuration that gives such delay?

    Cheers
    Chris

    Furthermore,
Could you please share some guidelines on how i can generate updated BOOT.bin & image.ub files,
based on an update of that certain vivado design, where lets say only the part of
hls opencv accelerator has been altered [tools used: Vivado 2013.3].

    Thanks
    Chris

    Hello,

New BOOT.bin has been generated using "sdk -> xilinx tools".
However i still get 2 frames per second operating "decoded file with no filter".
Is that an expected performance from that certain design
or there are any tweaks that can accelerate process?

    Cheers thanks
