Hello Wordl on MiniZed Hangs TeraTerm

Hello All,

Excuse the basic question...but being a newbi to MiniZed i have found that using the MiniZed Hello Worl tutorial has the following confusing behaviour on my system :

 

1) A|fter connecting ciorrectly to MiniZed boad and running the tutorial provided for HelloWorld my TeraTerm window just freezes. Is there know issue  there or have i missed s step ?

 

2) I see Hello World printed to TerTerm window but not (as the tutorial shows on page 19) in my SDK Termina console within SDK. Is there a connection step i need to run first ?

    Hi Dr Barry H,

    1) Does the terminal display the Hello World? How do you know it has frozen, can you not run the hello world application any more?

    2) When you say hello world is printed but not as shown in the tutorial page 19 what do you mean? Does it print some different text in the terminal? What version of SDK are you using?

    Hi Josh, thanks for replying. I am using Vivado 2017.4 and SDK 2017.4. What i mean is that 'hello world' gets printed out to my Linux connected TerraTerm window ... but then t=TerraTerm seems to hang and won't recover unless i close it and restart ..recoonect.

    Plus i don't see anything printed at all in my SDK console / terminal./ It just remains as it was before and after hello world appears in TerraTerm. I though the 'hello world' message should also appear in the SDK Console window ...is that right ? cheers, DrBarry H

    Hello DrBarry,

    You can only connect to the Serial COM port once before you lock up the COM port. Try disconnections the COM port from the TeraTerm window and then connecting to the SDK Terminal window. Then rerun your application and the output should display on the SDK terminal window.

    Just to confirm, the Console window should not display Hello World. The SDK Terminal window should.

    Also one question, are you running this on a Linux machine or Windows machine?
