Relation between vivado and yocto on zedboard?

Former Member
Former Member over 9 years ago

Dear,

I've followed architect's guide (http://architechboards-zedboard.readthedocs.io/en/latest/index.html) to install yocto, and now i have yocto running on zedboard.

Now I have 2 problems:

1- When I program the fpga from vivado or sdk  the yocto seems freezing, as the terminal throug usb uart becomes inactive, any idea why and how can I program fpga and keep yocto running?

2- how to create an application in vivad sdk which targeting yocto, so that the elf file will run on yocto?

Thanks

    thanks for your reply zedhed,

0- No, I am not using USB-JTAG, I am using normal usb cable to program the fpga. BTW, what is the USB-JTAG, and why to use it if we can program zynq by normal usb cable? And yes, I poweron zedboard, open a terminal, connect to zedboard COM port and see the yocto booting tilll it requests the login credentials, then I open vivado or sdk and program the fpga, after the fpga got programmed, the terminal become inactive.

1- PS dont have any interaction with PL, just have yocto on it, I want then to program the PL with keeping the yocto running to be able to develop an app which can interact with the zedboard LEDs, got me?

2-  I tried to follow the video instructions, but I am facing 3 problems:

a- When I create simple hello world app and build it then transfer it to PS then make it executable, then run it, yocto telling me that the file is not there.

b- When I choose a sysroot pointing to my rootfs then trying to build it, it says that toolchain must be selected.

c- when I change the toolchain to ARM GNU/LINUX, the compiled app works on yocto, but cant include xi_io.h or any xi_* header files
