Avnet extended vs industrial temperature range

Hello,

I was checking ultrazed EG board and found AES-ZU3EG-1-SOM-I-G and AES-ZU3EG-1-SOM-G boards.

after checking data sheet. the only difference is that the " I " stands for industrial grade.

what is the difference between industrial and extended grade?

Hi there,

The only real difference is the MPSoC. The I grade has an I grade MPSoC and the E grade has the E-grade version. The rest of the board stays the same.

NOTE that the least common denominator for the board is 85C. So, while the MPSoC and a few other components are rated higher, we do not rate the SOM higher than 85C.

I grade MPSoC parts operate from: -40C to +100C

E grade MPSoC parts operate from: 0C to +100 or +110C depending on the specific part

For the exact specifications. As always, with any design, you will want to run through a thermal analysis of the parts, boards, and your design using all the tooling / estimators / etc. to ensure your design will be able to properly hit the thermal thresholds. Pay special attention to any power supplies and the MPSoC itself.
