An alternative for camera setup in Avnet Multicam4 FMC module

Hi,

I am looking for an alternative hardware setup to replace the quad camera setup interfacing the Avnet multicam4 FMC module. This alternative setup should replicate the camera output and provide an image as input to the multicam4 FMC Module.

Any suggestions or ideas will be really helpful.

    Hi there,

     

    I'm not sure I understand.  You want to use the FMC from the Quad Cam, but do not want to use the Cameras?  Did I understand that correctly?

     

    If that is the case, are you looking for something like a stack of USB cameras - or something like that?  It seems you want to have this output and image, like a still post processed?

     

    Any clarity will help me to help you.

    Hi Dan,

    Yeah i want to use FMC from Quad cam and instead of camera image, i want to give my predefined image as an input to the FMC.

    This will help me to verify the working and compare the output with my  expected output.

    Is there any other hardware i can connect instead of the Quad cam setup through which i can give my predefined image input to the FMC?

    I hope this will clear some things.

    Hi there,

     

    It seems I lost the reply to this.  Sorry about that!

    The camera FMC uses a specific method to bring camera information in.  If you wanted to replicate that you can, but the board was designed to operate with the cameras which are part of that kit.

    You are of course free to use any input and with some gstreamer trickery, really could be just about anything including a file from the file system.  For example, we have a design for the UltraZed-EV that uses a USB webcam as input.

    Hi Dan.

     

    I was going through existing topics and came across this question which is something that i am working on. Can you please point out any resource which can help in using FMC-MultiCam minus the cameras ? The usecase here is to have flexibility to send video input with different scenarios for which FMC Multi Cam can be used. Using Camera we may be getting a single live feed. I want to see if there is any quicker way for sending video inputs to FMC without additional setup such as a camera box and all?

    Hi there,

     

    Are you just looking for alternative camera input methods?

     

    We only support the multi-camera with the configuration we sell it in.  Due to the licensing we were able to establish around the cameras and how the circuit works, there is no public information that I can provide.  The protocols that are used are not as public as the MIPI protocol.

     

    However, I believe there are many FMC cards for camera inputs.  Boards like the UltraZed can also take in HDMI - which we are planning a reference design release for, in the next release (2020.2).
