Ultra96-v2 connection problem

luciaom_02
luciaom_02 over 2 years ago

I recently bought an ultra96-v2 board and a JTAG/UART Pod. I read the getting started guide and I have problems with the connection of the board with my computer. I am going to explain it. I read the getting started guide and the end of the step which is called “Run the Out of Box Design” is not working because of my computer does not recognize the JTAG/UART Pod. I followed the steps and downloaded the drivers and it still not working. The board turns on and the LEDs light up but my computer does not recognize the JTAG/UART Pod so I cannot launch my serial terminal which is called “Putty” because of I don’t know which is the serial line where my JTAG Pod is connected. I don’t know if the board or the JTAG Pod is damaged.

If you could help me, I will be grateful.

Thanks for your answer and sorry for my English, I'm doing the best I can . Yes, I'm booting from SD card. I tried your steps and I realized that the USB cable is broken. Now it works. Thanks for all

From your description, it sounds like you're booting from the onboard flash or uSD card.  Is that what you want?

Let's try a few basic things first.

Remove the JTAG/UART pod from the Ultra96, connect it to your host computer.

What does lsusb show you?  Do you see the pod?  It will look something like this:

Bus 001 Device 010: ID 0403:6010 Future Technology Devices International, Ltd FT2232C/D/H Dual UART/FIFO IC

    1. If the pod does not show up, try a known good USB cable.  Try different USB ports on your host computer.  Power cycle your host computer.  (USB is known to get into unrecoverable states.)

2  If the pod shows up in the list, try sudo lsusb -v -s 1:10.  Make sure in the Interface descriptor you see "iInterface 2 JTAG+Serial"

If you see that, the JTAG pod is good.  Look for driver issues.

    3. If you're trying to use a Linux VM instead of running Linux natively on your computer, make sure the USB device is set to be passed through to the VM.  The specifics of how to do that vary by hypervisor.  That is why I never use VMs on Windoze any more.

If none of that helps, reply with the results of the above and we can go from there.
