Ultra96 V1 - what is default baud rate on UART terminal?

The Ultra96 V1 ships with an SD card pre-configured to boot an unspecified version of Linux. The Getting Started Guide that came with board doesn't mention the default UART baud settings for the Linux console. Neither does the online GSG.

I've tried to guess by trying combinations of baud, data bits, Parity, Stop bits and flow control typically used. Nothing works.

I cannot use the WLAN or built in webserver at my workplace - they tend to frown on ad-hoc wireless LAN connections popping up without IT approval. So to interact with the Linux OS on the board, I need a UART based console, and I need to know what it's settings are.

Does it have to be on COM3? My settings are identical, except I'm using COM10 and I'm not seeing any console output or response.

Hi,

No it does not need to be COM3, that will depend on your PC setup. Where is your UART board connected to? In the out of box image the UART is connected to the 40 pin low speed connector. Are you connecting to it via the low speed header? Or are you trying to read the UART via J6 3 pin header?

I purchased the AES-ACC-U96-JTAG (Rev2) UART/JTAG adapter from Avnet. It connects to the 3-pin header adjacent to the 40-pin LS connector. The adapter provides a UART to USB bridge to allow connecting to host USB ports (using FTDI driver for a Virtual Com Port). With the 40-pin connection, I would need to attach to a real COM port on the host PC, correct? I will have to build a cable to do this....

Hi,

Yep that is your issue, unfortunately the OOB image was created to output the UART to one of the two UART connections on the 40 pin header. I believe the BSPs we offer have corrected this though and put them connected to the 3 pin J6 header.
