Differences Of raspberry and MaaxBoard ' MIPI DSI port

zafersen
zafersen over 4 years ago

Hi,

I bought Maaxboard and mipi dsi port compatible with DSI touch screen for raspberry pi in order to use on Maaxboard because I thought raspberry pi and maaxboard have the same dsi port due to they named MIPI DSI port. However, when they arrived in my hands, I realized that the Maaxboard dsi port and raspberry dsi port are different. I wonder that if these ports are different from each other, why they called mipi dsi port? I am looking for a new solution for this problem, Do you have any advice?

Thank you, Regards

    Hi,

Yes the MIPI DSI port between the MaaXBoards and the Raspberry pi's are different.

The MaaXBoards have the backlight integrated in the MIPI DSI connector while the Raspberry pi does not and requires jumper wires for this conneciton to the 40 pin pi hat conntector. In addition the MaaXBoards supports 2 channel MIPI DSI displays allowing higher resolution compatibility while the raspbeery pi only supports a single MIPI DSI channel.

They are both labeled MIPI DSI due to the protocol used to communicate with the display. This is not nessecarily a standardized electrical pin-out.

Here is the Pinout for the Raspberry Pi

If you are looking for a MIPI DSI display that is compatible with the MaaXBoard please check out.

    Hello,

And sorry to bring this topic up again, but I have another question:

Is there a tutorial how I can change on base Android or Debian the touch driver connected to the i2c interface + the init code, and the timings/resolution of the MIPI-DSI driver? Is the latter possible via device tree overlay?

We have bought two MaaxBoards and would like to connect and test our own touch-displays (MIPI-DSI Display with i2C Touch).

    Thank you
