Can someone tell me if the two boards below are compatible in terms of physical layout and software:
BD-Z7MB-7Z020-G, AES-Z7MB-7Z020-SOM-G/REV-F.

Hi there,
Thank you for the encouragement! We certainly do not want to hold boards back. The backlog started when Xilinx announced a delay on MPSoC parts. We put a few actions into play that allowed us to better compensate for that. From there, we were a little surprised when we found out about the SoC parts. They ended up with almost a 2x backlog compared to the MPSoC. While the SoC is the longest lead, it is not the only part that we are seeing longer leads. I think it is a matter of capacity and trying to refill the pipelines that were depleted due to the shutdowns.
We are certainly doing the best we can and communication and forecasting with your local sales team will help us the most. We certainly do not want to be out of stock.
Also, please note, we do sell in a first come first serve manor. If you have not placed your order, I would do so soon in order to get in the queue.

Regarding availability, I think the Zynq-7000 devices are driving the SOM lead-times. You can see the Xilinx lead-times by trying to purchase a part, and you'll get the same story regardless of which distributor you look at. For example, the C-grade device on the MicroZed 7010 is here, looking at 52 weeks.

However, Avnet is trying to aggressively monitor orders and predict demand, which is always an imperfect game to play, but we are trying. I responded to similar issues in a couple other posts:

Re: Availability MicroZed 7020
Given the multiple sizes and temp grades in each family, some will be coming available sooner than others, but all of them are being built. I expect an order placed now would likely be shipped before the end of the summer. However, the very best advice is that you work with your local Avnet FAE, get an order placed, and then they should be able to determine an estimated delivery date.

Hi, Bryan,
I tried to place an order for AES-Z7MB-7Z020-SOM-G/REV-H on the AVNET web site. I tried many times today, and even talked to your 800 help desk. Even the AVNET agent had the same issue:
Every time I used checkout to buy the part, it always says: Error:There is an invalid order item ID. I could not continue from there. I logged out, logged back in, many times; nothing helped.
I understand it is a long wait to receive the parts, but I need to place the order ASAP so I can get them sooner.
HELP?
I have sent an urgent message to our production team to see if they can locate the issue in our system. I apologize for the trouble!
Normally, I would recommend that you call your local Avnet field office and deal with someone local. However, in this case, I expect they will run into the same problem. Hopefully we can find the issue and correct it quickly.
Bryan
Thanks! Please send us an alert once the problem has been solved. Appreciated!
Hi, I just tried again to order. Your web site gave me the some error and would not allow me to proceed to check out. Help?
I'm very sorry for the problems! I have followed up again today to make sure someone is working on fixing it. I hope to have news tomorrow on a resolution.
Bryan
I have been told that this is resolved today. I have successfully added the AES-Z7MB-7Z020-SOM-G/REV-H to my shopping cart and accepted the 34-week lead time for a back-order. I could then see the item in my cart, ready for checkout. As I noted previously, this should not take the full 34-weeks to fulfill as several builds are already in progress. With all the craziness in the semiconductor world, it has been very challenging to get reasonable delivery dates. Without a set delivery date, the system defaults to the lead-time. Therefore, the 34 weeks lead-time that you see is accurate, but we hope to beat that.
Thanks for your patience. Please try again and let us know how it goes.
Bryan
Thanks, I just placed a back order for 20 pieces of AES-Z7MB-7Z020-SOM-G/REV-H. Can you confirm that REV-H is both hardware and software compatible with REV-F and REV-G?
Appreciated!
Yes, 100% functionally compatible. You can see more in this blog -- MicroZed Support Extended with Rev H
Thanks for your order! We look forward to hearing more about your design!
Bryan
Thanks! We already developed the Microzed PCB into a product line, an industrial application with relatively low volume. Appreciated for the wonderful support!
Hi, Bryan, the order I placed one month ago still shows delivery in July 2022.
Can you help me out? Order #54002171. Appreciated!

Your best option is to work with your local Avnet office on the delivery specifics. Unfortunately, the entire industry is undergoing serious shortages right now. The Xilinx device lead-time is 52-weeks, which means Avnet's lead-time is 52 weeks plus the time it takes us to assemble, test, and ship boards -- another 8 weeks. However, we're trying to predict sales as best we can to beat the 60 weeks, but that's a difficult challenge.
From what I can see on my side, orders placed April or earlier will be delivered in early August. Orders placed May or later will likely be December. I know that's not a great answer, but it is better than the 52 week lead-time that a buyer would get for the equivalent Xilinx device.
If you have ongoing needs, my best advice is that you place scheduled orders for any demand you may have during the next 18 months. That helps us with our predictive algorithms to know when to build more.
Bryan
Thanks! Dec 2021 delivery is acceptable. Please help me that it happens. Appreciated! KW
Hi, Bryan,
I am getting a little nervous as the shortage continues. Can you take another look at this order and let me know the anticipated delivery date? Order #54002171
Any chance I may get them in Aug 2021?
Appreciated!!!
Your best bet is to work with whomever you placed the order. They should be able to provide a more accurate update. Many times that is your local Avnet, Silica, or EBV branch. Unfortunately, the automated system will simply tell you your order date plus lead-time, even if we already had builds in progress. Therefore, it's definitely best to check with someone locally.
