Python 1300-C Camera Module interface to HP Banks

Hello,

I would like to use the Python 1300-C Camera module for my Xilinx VC707 evaluation kit. Unfortunatey, the camera hardware user guide says to connect the 2.5V LVDS signals to Xilinx HR banks. My Virtex-7 only has 1.8V HP banks. Despite the voltage difference, I know it is still theoretically possible by using external terminating resistors.

My question is if anyone tried attaching this camera to non zedboards? Does the external terminators degrade the signal since it is now so far away from the receiver? What was your experience like? Also...why is it so hard to get this sensor's extensive datasheet? Seems a little bit weird to keep it such a secret.

Any kind of discussion on this matter would be incredibly helpful.

The short answer to your question, yes the PYTHON-1300-C is supported by 1.8V HP I/O Banks. The receiver for the PYTHON-1300-C image sensor uses LVDS signaling with LVDS differential termination (DIFF_TERM = 'TRUE') The differential termination is available in two configurations: - 2.5V HR I/O Banks, using the LVDS_25 I/O standard and DIFF_TERM set to 'TRUE' - 1.8V HP I/O Banks, using the LVDS I/O standard and DIFF_TERM set to 'TRUE' Here is a Xilinx reference that provides a good detailed description on these two supported configurations: http://www.xilinx.com/support/answers/43989.html Regards, Mario.

It is very common to require an NDA to get access to image sensor datasheets. All image sensor manufacturers require this.

Exceptionally, ON Semiconductor has recently agreed to provide the PYTHON-1300-C datasheet without NDA, and will be making the datasheet available on their website in the future (although it is not yet there today).

In the meantime, contact your local Avnet FAE, who can provide you with the PYTHON-1300-C datasheet.
